no, it doesn't, but i didn't mean it like that and should have made it more clear. i meant that i already have high cholesterol/it was already triggered, not that it just runs in my family and i'm concerned. my...

i dont feel like im beautiful enough.
lyricsandbutterflies,
Beautiful enough for what?
There is no yardstick for beauty. Beauty isn’t even relative. The reason they say, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” is because beauty has no beginning and no end, no bottom and no top. You don’t need to be beautiful “enough.” You are beautiful so long as you claim your beauty. To say that you don’t...

Hey Will.I.Am where the hell are your music videos encouraging people to vote this November? Activism is easy when you follow trends. Get off your ass and start promoting Democrats this Fall or Obama’s term is done for. Think Bill Clinton in 1994.
I’m dreading November. I fear for this nation when teabagger-fueled Republicans take office. It will make 1994 seem civil by comparison. The scary...

The bias of expertise →
No scientist can ever be perfectly objective and every part of their work — including their assumptions going into research, as well as the way they ask their questions — must be looked at carefully. But there’s one bias that I see all the time that very often doesn’t get talked about. And that’s the bias of knowledge.

These people aren’t being purposefully myopic. It’s just that...

How, oh how, do we stop our parents from watching Glenn Beck?
He’s like Rush Limbaugh on acid.
He’s like Bill O’Reilly without a brain.
He’s like Sean Hannity without a conscience.
He’s like Michael Savage without a clue.
He’s like Ann Coulter without balls.
And he’s mobilizing the ignorant masses to take back the House and Senate this fall.
Where...

I’m pretty sure that what happened this weekend is that the pre-racial era of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the post-racial era of Glenn Horatio Beck, Jr. collided, rendering racism obsolete and forming a new meta-racial society.
Either that or a bunch of bitter, wailing whiners gathered to celebrate the unbearable whiteness of being.

So have you heard about this outbreak of Salmonella?
It’s incredible… 228 million 380 million 550 million eggs recalled.
…
Part of the problem is that the government refuses to pass laws making the discovery of a pathogen in the food supply automatically turn over control of the recall to the FDA.

So our society has become dependent upon the food industry to provide us with...
quantumwobbles-has-moved asked: Do you happen to know how pluseyes managed to reply to your post "Armchair Fat Activism" despite there not being a reply link?? I just wanted to say that I basically love you for the idea (also, I can't stop laughing) and have flagged all the comments you pointed out, although I'm not going to join the FB page because I kinda don't want my little sister to think I've...

A little bit of hope to take you into the weekend:
“Being a Fat Acceptance Activist can be discouraging in today’s obesiphobic atmosphere. It seems that the entire world hates fat activists because we’re seen as “enablers” and “justifiers” of an unhealthy lifestyle (nevermind the fact that obesity itself is not a lifestyle).

Six months ago, however, The Huffington Post was a much...

So you are going under the knife…. →
“So why the hell am I taking it like a personal attack? Why does them making the choice to get WLS (well, lap band) feel like a betrayal? Why do I suddenly feel the need to be a “Good Fatty”? I mean, the night I found out I literally cried after they left. We haven’t played together in the bedroom since (granted they have been busy, but I am also afraid).”

Bored?
Well, have I got the job for you… we are working to remove all fat hate speech from Huffington Post and have set up a Facebook page for the HuffPo Fat Hate Fast Response Team to coordinate our efforts. Below are links to four comments which are hateful, ugly responses to a hateful, ugly article about airline fatties.
Click the links and flag them as abusive. We’ve already had...

Taste Everything. Eat Nothing. →
“The last thing any woman needs is yet another photo of a conventionally beautiful woman in a bikini telling other women not to eat, ESPECIALLY after giving birth. We’ve got more important things to think about than how we look with a new baby in the home, like how to get enough sleep, making sure we’re eating enough and our baby is feeding well. Looking good after delivery should not be a...

Do you believe that "true love lasts forever" or...
Love evolves over time. Love becomes both more difficult and more meaningful over time, so the couple must evolve together in love or else they will evolve apart, and that’s when love “ends.”
I don’t believe in “true love.” I believe in Divine Complements, where two people fit each other like those Best Friend heart lockets that are split down the middle. Some...

Recalling ‘Green Book,’ Guide for Black Travelers →
abbyjean:
For almost three decades beginning in 1936, many African-American travelers relied on a booklet to help them decide where they could comfortably eat, sleep, buy gas, find a tailor or beauty parlor, shop on a honeymoon to Niagara Falls, or go out at night. In 1949, when the guide was 80 pages, there were five recommended hotels in Atlanta. In Cheyenne, Wyo., the Barbeque Inn was the...

Intuitive Eating – Why I Don’t →
Anyone who spends even a tiny bit of time in the Fat Acceptance worlds has to have come across the idea of “Intuitive Eating.”
A simple breakdown of the idea is basically… “Eat what your body tells you to eat. Stop eating when you are full. Don’t eat when you are not hungry.”
It seems pretty simple, no? Not all that much to grasp. Not too hard to eat stuff when you are hungry and stop when...

Got it, fatties! You’re not normal, so quit demanding dignity, respect and a decent pair of jeans.
I have no clue what the hell I’m doing.
